The much awaited biggest ATV event of the year organized by Mahindra and Mahindra in collaboration with SAEINDIA, was finally held from 21st-23rd February and as usual turned out to be hugely successful!
For the seventh time the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) facility at Pithampur, near Indore hosted the event.
With 125 teams making it through out of 327 participants, this year saw a fivefold increase in the number of participants since 2008; the year of BAJA’s inception.
With the event aiming to go international next year, the theme for this year was aptly chosen as “Raise the bar”, which appeals to both the organizers as well as the participating teams to strive for improved quality overall and absolutely zero tolerance.
As Srikanth Marathe, Director, ARAI and President, SAEINDIA mentioned “in competitions like BAJA, students work together to solve problems and achieve objectives like skills, confidence and lifelong learning”, BAJA indeed provided a platform required to turn engineering principles into action, where students showcased their talent and had to think on their feet for innovative solutions in case things went wrong.
Sanjay Nibhande, Convenor, BAJA 2014, added “as the number of teams is increasing, complexity in planning and execution is increasing as well. However, being the seventh year, everyone has enough requisite experience necessary”
Every detail, from logistic planning, to laying out the circuit, to arranging for food and accommodation was done in a flawless manner for more than 2500 students, making the event truly live up to the expectation of raising the bar!
