After a cut-throat competition for the championship in the Endurance round, Sri Govindam Siksaria institute of Technology and Science, Indore came out with flying colors at the 7th edition of the BAJA SAE India.
The central theme, Raise the bar, of the 7th edition of BAJA SAE India was well justified. BAJA SAE India gives an opportunity to the various colleges from different parts of the nation to display their skill and intelligence by building an off-road, enjoyable four-wheeled vehicle which undergoes various tests throughout the course of the event.
Each team’s goal is to create a safe, easily transported, easily maintained and fun to drive prototype without any direct involvement from professional fabricators. Every team has the freedom of designing their own transmission as long as they adhere to the 60 km/h speed cap.
125 teams had qualified for the finale, from a total of 327 teams. The three day event commenced with a basic Static Evaluation round in which the design, cost of building and a marketing presentation was assessed. The Dynamic Evaluation round tested vehicles for acceleration, speed, hill climb and maneuverability. The most exciting of all was The Endurance Event during which the teams battled along a specially and skillfully designed off-track road for four hours. This was to test the enduring ability and speed of the vehicle in rough terrain having obstacles in any weather conditions.
After a nail biting battle for the title in the endurance round, Sri Govindram Siksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore emerged as the overall winner at the 7th edition of the BAJA SAE India.
The final four hour race of the event provided the students as well as the spectators with lot of thrill and excitement.
