Top car designer Dilip Chhabria launched India’s first sports car, the DC Avanti, in Pune.
Three-and-a-half years after it was first unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi, DC Design has finally launched the Avanti, touted India’s first sports car at a starting price Rs 35.93 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Prices rise based on the level of customization you opt for.
With a ground clearance of 170mm, the Avanti sits higher than regular sports cars, and that’s been done to allow it to tackle Indian roads. To give you a sense of the difference in ride heights, the Ferrari California T and Lamborghini Huracan have a ground clearance of 119mm and 135mm respectively while the Lamborghini Huracan rests on 20-inch alloys.
The car has a Renault-sourced 2.0-litre turbo Euro 5 compliant petrol engine and a six-speed manual transmission. The highest speed of the car is electronically limited to 200 kilometers per hour (kmph).
It will be available in the market in red, white and silver colours.
