Indian’s love their SUV’s to be big, macho and imposing. This seems to be well known to Chevrolet who is going against the trend and is launching the big, brawny and solid looking, Chevrolet Trailblazer on October 21. Based on the American carmaker’s Colorado pick-up truck, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is a hard-core SUV that first made its debut in India at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. With its imposing looks and gigantic dimensions, the Chevy has taken on the well established Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in its sights. Interestingly it has partnered with Amazon India for booking the Chevrolet Trailblazer, the first of its kind initiative for premium vehicles in India. Apart from letting customers book the Trailblazer at their showrooms, bookings for the premium SUV will begin on October 21, 2015 at Amazon India.
The new Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV will come with a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged, diesel engine that will produce a peak power of 200PS and a peak torque of 500Nm, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This will make the Chevy the most powerful SUV in its class.
The new Chevrolet Trailblazer will have 18-inch alloy wheels and will be 4,878mm in length and 1,902mm in width. The Trailblazer will come with a wheelbase of 2,845mm and with a fuel capacity of 76 litres. It will have a ground clearance of 253mm.
The seven-seater will have all premium features like- a 7-inch MyLink Touchscreen Infotainment System, USB port, AUX and smart-phone connectivity. The Trailblazer will also come with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), Hill Start Assist, Panic Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, Traction Control, Hill Descent Control and Dual Airbags.
The Chevrolet TrailBlazer will be brought to India via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route after which, it will be produced at General Motors’ facility in Halol, Gujarat and will cost around Rs 18-20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
