MARUTI SUZUKI remained the best-selling car brand in September 2024 and was the only carmaker to cross cumulative sales of over a lakh units. -
Although its monthly sales grew by a little over 1.3 percent, Maruti’s year-on-year (YoY) sales saw a decline of almost 4 percent last month.
- HYUNDAI stood second in September 2024 with over 51,101 units dispatched. However, the automaker still saw a decline of 5.8 percent in yearly sales and witnessed 3.2 % MoM growth.

After HYUNDAI, MAHINDRA is the only brand on the list to cross the sales mark of 50,000 units in September. MAHINDRA dispatched around 10,000 more vehicles than TATA last month, taking the third spot in the sales table. The Indian automaker recorded a positive growth of 18 percent and close to 24 percent in both MoM and YoY sales, respectively. -
With over 41,000 units dispatched, TATA monthly sales went down by 7 percent, while it also recorded a dip of more than 8 percent in yearly sales.

TOYOTA experienced the highest decline of nearly 17 percent in monthly sales, with around 23,800 units dispatched in September. However, Toyota sold around 1,600 more cars last month compared to last year in the same month. -
The Korean automaker, KIA, recorded sales of over 23,500 units in September 2024. The brand registered a positive growth of over 4 percent and 17.5 percent in both monthly and yearly sales, respectively. -
HONDA experienced the highest decline of over 42 percent in yearly sales, however its monthly demand increased more than 6 percent. The automaker dispatched over 5,600 units last month. -
MG’s September sales remained consistent, however the brand saw a decline of over 400 units in yearly sales.
VOLKSWAGEN attracted nearly 3,400 buyers in September 2024, registering a loss of around 5 percent in both monthly and yearly sales
